SHIKARPUR, Jan 7: The Sindh Chief Minister, Ali Mohammad Mahar, has ordered to hold a Jirga on Jan 17 to settle the on-going tribal feud between the Mahar and the Jatoi tribes.

Earlier, the district administration had announced to hold Jirga on Jan 5, which was postponed because of unspecified reasons.

The Jirga would be held at the Circuit House, Sukkur.

According to the DPO, Shikarpur, Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, the chieftains of both the Mahar and the Jatoi tribes have agreed to participate in the Jirga.

The dispute, which erupted between the Mahar and the Jatoi tribes in 1987 over a piece of agricultural land, has so far claimed the lives of over a hundred people of both the tribes.

SUICIDE: A man, Weeram, 26, committed suicide by shooting himself with a TT pistol in the Lohar Baloch village here on Monday.

The motive behind the suicide is said to be a domestic dispute.
