In Kurram Agency, a security man was killed and two others were injured in a landmine explosion on Sunday.

According to official sources, security personnel were patrolling Jhor area when they were targeted by a roadside landmine. A security man was killed and two others were injured in the blast.

The injured security men were shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Thall for treatment.

In Khyber Agency, a jirga of Kukikhel tribe has demanded an end to drone strikes and military operations in the tribal areas.

The jirga was held on Sunday in Jamrud that was addressed by Malik Israr Afridi, Malik Ismail Torkhel, Haji Niqab Shah, Haji Barak Khan and Barkat Khan.

They said that innocent tribesmen were targeted in drone attacks and thousands of tribal families were forced to leave their houses owing to military operations.

“Fata is passing through a critical stage of history and any decision about its future status should be taken in consultations with tribal people instead of imposing it from outside,” the participants of the jirga said.

The Kukikhel elders were of the opinion that Fata should not be merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and decision in that regard should be left to the representative elders and political leadership of tribal people.
