PESHAWAR, Sept 20: Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the country particularly in Sindh and Balochistan, participants of an All Parties Conference alleged that some fanatic groups were creating lawlessness.

The conference was organised by Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl here on Thursday that was attended by main opposition parties.

The conference was convened to discuss the issues of energy crises, lawlessness, increase in the prices of petroleum products and a possible military operation in North Waziristan Agency.

A declaration issued after the conference condemned worsening law and order situation in the country, saying some elements were hatching conspiracies to disintegrate Pakistan. It said that extremist and fanatic groups were involved in target killing and other acts of terrorism.

About frequent power loadshedding, the declaration said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had utterly failed to resolve energy crises in the province despite generating surplus electricity. It said that provincial government had received Rs155 billion from the federal government on account of net hydle profit so far.

The provincial government had also received Rs35 billion cash assistance from foreign donors during the last four years. The government, according to the declaration, is distributing funds among MPAs and other unelected people to buy their loyalties.

It said that government should launch work on mega projects to overcome energy crises and demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of the misuse of funds. The declaration said that government had received funds to construct water reservoirs and power generating units.

The conference expressed serious concern over frequent US drone strikes in tribal areas and said that government should take steps in the light of the joint resolutions of the parliament for preventing those attacks.

The participants suggested that government should find out permanent solution to insurgency in Fata through talks.

The conference flayed production of anti-Islam film in America and demanded of the government to take up the issue at United Nations and Organisation of Islamic Conference. It also asked the US government to tender apology for producing the blasphemous movie.
