CHAKWAL, June 5: In a brutal act, a man gunned down his elder brother, sister-in-law, three nieces and a nephew over a petty family dispute on Tuesday morning.

According to police sources, Mohammad Shoaib and his elder brother Mohammad Doraiz along with their families were living in a same house in Pirwal village located in the jurisdiction of Nila police station.

Both the families used to lock in exchange of hot words over the fights of the children. The quarrels would intensify when the wives of the two brothers got entangled in the children fight and started abusing each other.

Resultantly, the relations between the two families often remained sour.

On Tuesday morning, as the children of the two brothers were fighting, their mothers also started taunting each other. Getting enraged at the situation, Mohammad Shoaib went to his room and came out with a pistol.

He rushed to the family of his elder brother and opened indiscriminate fire at them.

Resultantly, Mohammad Doraiz, his wife Tasleem Akhtar, son Shafiqueur Rahman and three daughters, Naila Noreen, Shumaila Noreen and Ume Nisa died on the spot while another son Faisal Rahman sustained serious bullet injuries.

After committing the heinous crime, Mohammad Shoaib ran away from the scene.

On information, SHO Nila police station Chaudhry Lehrasub Ali Khan along with other police personnel rushed to the scene. Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 shifted the bodies and injured to DHQ hospital. Later, the bodies were handed over to the relatives for burial.

The moving scenes were witnessed in the village when six coffins were carried out for burial in the evening.

“We have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of Faisal Rahman who is being treated at the hospital”, SHO Lehrasub Ali Khan told Dawn.
