RAWALPINDI, May 26: Former chairman Army Welfare Trust (AWT) on Saturday died of gunshot wound and according to police he allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself at his residence the limits of Morgah police station.
According to police, Lt-General (retired) Imtiaz Hussain 70, a resident of the DHA, Sector-D was found shot dead in his room in the afternoon. After hearing the bullet shot, the family members rushed to his room and found him critically injured.
They immediately shifted him to Fauji Foundation hospital where doctors declared him dead. The dead body was later shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital for autopsy.
DHQ Medical Superintendent Dr Sher Ali Khan said the deceased received bullet in the head from right side that escaped from left, damaging the skull. He said the detailed report would be finalised on Monday.
Morgah police station’s SHO Sadiq Khan told Dawn that apparently it looked like a suicide case as brother of the deceased, Tariq Mehmood, informed police that he was a patient of depression and went to his room in a depressed mood and was later found dead.” He further said the police have also found a pistol 9mm from the site.
