NOWSHERA, April 23: A student was killed and another sustained critical bullet injuries in two different incidents here on Monday.

Police said that Yasir Nawaz, a first year student, was killed by five armed persons over a monetary dispute involving only Rs300 in Jabba Tar Khattak area.

An FIR was registered at Pabbi police station against Mewa Khan and his five accomplices.

In the second incident, police said that Hidayat Khan, Fazal Tawab and Maqsud Khan entered the house of Pervaz Mohammad and opened indiscriminate firing on the inmates. Mohammad Liaqat, 12, received critical injuries in the firing.

The injured was rushed to district headquarters hospital from where he was referred to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. Nowshera Kalan police registered the case and started investigation. Sources said that Pervez Mohammad had refused to marry off his daughter with one of the accused that infuriated him.

SEMINAR: Speakers at a seminar on Monday said that local government system was vital for resolving problems of people at their doorsteps.

“Getting death certificate, birth certificate, domicile and national identify cards was easy when local government system was intact,” they said.

The seminar was organised by Development Trust for Community Empowerment in collaboration with Nowshera Press Club. Former nazim Ijaz Hussain, Naila Naz, Hayat Ali Khan, Nigar Raouf and DTCE district coordinator Ali Zaman addressed the seminar.
