KOHAT: The district administration on Saturday organised a sports gala at the Kohat jail.

The prisoners participated in volleyball, tug-of-war, musical chairs and other indoor games.

They also took oath to join hands with the civil administration for peace and prosperity in the society and to live as law-abiding citizens after their release from jail.

According to a handout issued here, deputy commissioner Dr Azmatullah Wazir was the chief guest on the occasion.

Prison superintendent Abdul Bari, officials of the sports department and others were also present on the occasion.

Speaking to the prisoners, the deputy commissioner stressed that they would have to become useful citizens in quest for a civilised and crime-free environment.

He asked the prisoners to contribute to the society’s peace after their release from the jail.

Later, the deputy commissioner distributed trophies among the prisoners, and appreciated them for showing keen interest in different games.
