Route violation

ATTOCK, March 5: District administration has been urged to ban public transport vehicles from plying through the densely-populated city areas as a number of residents had been injured and some deaths had also occurred.

The residents complained that Jand, Basal and Pindigheb-bound vehicles passed through Pleaders Lane, Railway Park Road and Eidgah Street causing nuisance to the people. Instead of using actual route of Attock-Pindigheb Road, the transporters preferred the residential area for a shortcut. On Feb 8, a labourer, Mohammad Javed was killed after being hit by a Basal-bound van near Railway Park. The residents protested and demanded the authorities concerned to stop route violation but to no avail.

The citizens have called upon district administration and additional inspector general of police (AIGP) traffic to look into the matter. — Correspondent
