LAHORE, Feb 3: PML-N leader and Nicholson Carpet Market president Iqbal Ahmed Dogar escaped two bullets fired by robbers after he put up resistance during a robbery at his shop in Naulakha police precincts on Friday.

Two robbers entered Dogar's shop and held him at gunpoint. As Dogar put up resistance, the robbers opened fire. Later, the robbers took away Rs100,000 and Dogar's pistols.

Immediately after the incident, shopkeepers put up the shutters in protest against the robbery and raised slogans against the police. They said it was eighth robbery here in a month, but police had failed to arrest the robbers.

ARRESTED:The National Highways and Motorway Police N-5 Central claim to have arrested 13 criminals involved in dacoities, street crime and for carrying illegal weapons.

The police recovered from their possession a snatched vehicle, mobile phones, stolen wood and other valuables. They also handed over four lost children to their parents during the last couple of days.

According to a handout issued on Friday, those arrested were identified as Zafar Haider, Iftikhar, Haq Nawaz, Abdul Hayee, Riaz, Afzal, Farooq, Ramzan, Imran, Rafiq, Faisal and Usman.

DIG Dr Muhammad Shafique hailed the efforts of the N-5 officials and directed them to hand over the arrested criminals to the local police for further action.
