KOHAT, Jan 16: The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain would be observed as agreed by the religious groups on Sunday (Jan 22).

Earlier, the Chehlum in Kohat used to be held on 25th of Safar according to the Islamic calendar under an agreement reached during the Junejo government in Islamabad in 1986.

But now the Junejo Agreement had been mutually canceled by the elders of both the groups on the request of the regional administration.

The new agreement was signed because the fixed date of 25 Safar for chehlum in Kohat sometimes fell on Friday and other working days. The procession was not acceptable to the Sunnis on Friday whereas the administration wanted it to be held on Sundays so that no extra holiday was given in the area.
