LAHORE, Jan 14: The Pakistan Railways will give its land to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for setting up a tax office in Sargodha.

A decision to this effect was taken at an executive committee meeting of the Pakistan Railways Board at PR headquarters in Lahore on Saturday.

Presided over by Railways Board Chairman Arif Azeem, the meeting was attended by General Manager (Operations) Saeed Akhtar and all principal officers.

The meeting decided to enter into an agreement with the FBR for leasing out the land at Sargodha.

The matter pertaining to the railways land at Chaman under the occupation of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company was also discussed.

The land was leased out more than 30 years ago to the now defunct telegraph and telephone department which had constructed its offices there.

The meeting decided that after getting the market price of Chaman land assessed, the PTCL would be asked to either pay its price or clear the rent arrears.
