LARKANA, Jan 4: The Larkana police have recovered two kidnapped men in a raid in a forest near Shikarpur on Wednesday. SSP of Larkana Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya told journalists in his office that acting on tip off, police conducted a raid at a house in the jurisdiction of Kot Shaho police station, where Imam Bakhsh Qazi and Akbar Ali Qazi were found with chains put around their feet. No arrests were made as only some women were present in the house, he said.

He said that the police had conducted the raid on receiving information about the presence of Dr Abdul Rab Sangi and his driver Wajid in the house but they were not found there, he said.

Dr Sangi and his driver were kidnapped from a rural area of Larkana district last month where the doctor, working with the district administration, had gone to supervise anti-polio campaign.

Imam Bakhsh and Akbar Ali were kidnapped from Ghotki bypass near Yaroo Loond village about 15 days ago, the SSP said.

They told journalists that they were labourers and kidnappers had demanded Rs10 million ransom for their release which their families were unable to pay.

Our Shikarpur correspondent adds: Police recovered a kidnapped woman and her little daughter from a house here on Wednesday.

Parveen Pathan, 30, and her daughter Dua, 6, had been kidnapped from another area of the city one year ago. Their relatives informed the police that they had received information about the presence of the duo at a house in Khanchandabad.

The police conducted a raid at the house and recovered the woman and her daughter. Police also arrested a suspect and recovered a TT pistol from the house.
