TAXILA, Dec 16: The 29th National Rowing Championship commenced at Khanpur Dam on Friday.

Pakistan Rowing Federation (PRF) General Secretary Rizwanul Haq inaugurated the championship. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Haq said the future of rowing was bright in the country.

He said the federation would soon launch a crash programme across the country for boosting the sport and in this connection various departments would be encouraged to establish setups and prepare the players.

He said the country was blessed with water and Khanpur Dam was an ideal place for water sports especially rowing and a proper setup would be  set up.

Responding a question, Mr Haq said the National Women Rowing Championship would be organised in March next year.
