GHALANAI, May 1: Twenty-one militants were killed and two others injured in clashes with security forces in Baizai area of Mohmand Agency on Sunday, officials said.

The fighting also left one security man dead and five others wounded, they said.

The clashes erupted in Soran Darra near the Afghan border after which gunship helicopters targeted suspected militant positions.

Sporadic clashes were continuing in pockets of Baizai tehsil, where militants have strong presence, till late in night. Militants claimed that they had inflicted heavy casualties on the security forces.—Correspondent
