KARACHI, April 18: The body of a teenaged girl, stuffed in a gunny bag, was found in the Garden area on Monday, police said. They said the girl was apparently strangulated before her body was packed in the gunny bag and dumped at a desolated area.

“The body was found near KMC Workshop,” said Eidgah SHO Raja Tanveer. “The body bore no torture marks, but there are visible signs around her neck suggesting that she was strangled.”

He said the body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem examination. The girl remained unidentified, he added.

The incident sparked anger among the area people and they set the bus on fire. However, the driver already managed to escape.

“The deceased woman, identified as 42-year-old Aleema Khatoon, was going along with her husband Shoaib Ahmed on a motorcycle (KBN-353) when the accident occurred,” said an official at the Super Market police station. “The private bus (JA-175) was in fact overtaking the two-wheeler and hit it. The woman died on the spot while her husband remained unhurt in the accident.”
