DADU, Oct 12: Some 40 persons were injured in election-related violence in Dadu district.

The polling remained suspended for two hours in Solmiani village of Dadu taluka after six persons were injured in a clash between the PPP and the PML-Q workers.

The incident occurred after the presiding officer, Dr Abdul Karim Mallah, reportedly allowed a person to caste vote despite the objections of the PPP candidate’s polling agent, Mumtaz Shaikh.

The polling remained suspended for two hours at a polling station in Abdul Rahim Abro of Dadu taluka after the SDA’s and the PPP’s polling agents — Syed Gambal Shah and Nizamuddin respectively — were injured in a clash between the workers of both the parties.

The driver of the SDA’s polling agent, Anwar, was also injured. The polling resumed after the arrival of the police.

The workers of the SDA and the PPP also clashed at a polling station in Piaro Goth after the supporters of the SDA candidate for PS-74 reportedly attempted to cast the votes through bogus identity cards.

The SDA’s polling agent, Mohammad Sadiq, and seven PPP workers were injured in the incident.

The polling resumed under the supervision of the police and the army personnel.

The polling was also suspended for two hours in Kubee of Kotri Taluka after nine PPP and two SDA workers were reported hurt in a clash.

Meanwhile, four PPP workers recieved bullet injuries in a clash with the supporters of the PML-Q candidate, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, at a polling station in Mitho Babar.

The polling was resumed after two hours under the supervision of the police and army personnel.

In the meantime, polling remained suspended for three hours at a polling station in Dhani Bakhsh after two polling agents of the PPP candidate and three polling agents of the PML-Q candidate from NA-233 were injured in a clash between the workers of both the parties.

Polling also remained suspended for two hours at polling stations in Dangar and Khanpur (Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka), Sojhro, High School No1, New Goth (Mehar taluka), Murad Jamali (Johi Bhambhan taluka), Dhotra Panhwar, Bhan high school, Main Primary School Bhan (Sehwan taluka) following clashes between the PPP and the PML-Q workers.

Our Correspondent from Mithi Adds: Independent sources reported skirmishes at a number of polling stations in Chhachhro taluka of Diplo and Nagarparkar tehsils.

There were also reports of suspension of polling from Kitari, Arnaro, Jesse-Jo-Paar in Chhachhro taluka, besides Gungio village in Mithi taluka after clashes between the workers of the PPP and the SDA.
