LAHORE, Jan 19: A local judicial magistrate at the Model Town courts on Wednesday handed over custody of Naveed Iqbal, step-brother of Justice Javed Iqbal, and his co-accused Abbas to the Factory Area police on physical remand till Jan 23.

Naveed Iqbal was arrested on Tuesday on charges of murdering his parents with the help of Abbas and Ameen.

The Factory Area police produced the accused before the magistrate and sought seven-day physical remand, but the court allowed five-day remand.

The police said Naveed Iqbal murdered his father, Malik Abdul Majeed, a former DIG, and stepmother Zareena with the help of his two accomplices over monetary issue.

The accused initially denied the charge before the media but later confessed to plotting the murder.

Naveed again changed his statement before the magistrate and stated that he was innocent and had been falsely implicated in the case.
