ISLAMABAD, Dec 18: A man was allegedly gunned down and two others injured by a retired colonel and his accomplices after a dispute over a collision of cars in the capital's suburbs, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place in village Kagnah's in the limits of Nilor police station where the cars of the victim – Nazakat Hussain – and Col (retired) Tasduq Hussain collided. “We do not know who was at fault for accident,” said a policeman.

It led to a scuffle between the two, police said. After the scuffle, Nazakat along with his two uncles went to Tasduq's farm, some three kilometres away from the place of accident, to settle the issue.

But in the village, there was heated argument as Nazakat left the retired colonel's place in anger. Police said the colonel and his accomplices chased and opened fire at Nazakat and his maternal uncles.

The attackers escaped from the scene leaving the injured behind. Hearing gunshots the people, including relatives of the injured, rushed to the spot and shifted them to Polyclinic and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims). Nazakat was declared dead when he was brought to the Polyclinic. His two uncles – Mohammad Ibad and Mohammad Azad – were provided medical assistance in Pims and kept there under observation.

Police said the victim and the accused were property dealers and owned large tract of land near the village. A murder case has been registered against the retired colonel on the complaint of victim's brother, Mohammad Rafaqat. Nazakat married five years back had three children.

Mr Rafaqat told Dawn that his brother was going to arrange meal for a Majlis in the village when the accident happened. He claimed that the retired colonel sped away after hitting his brother's car. He said two hours later Nazakat found the retired colonel in the village and asked him to pay damages for repairing the car. He said in the meantime three persons in another vehicle also came over to the spot. “The colonel came out of his car and started firing at my brother.” He said two persons in the other car started indiscriminate firing at the two uncles of the victim who tried to come to his rescue.

Meanwhile, a man's mutilated body was found in the capital's suburbs, police said. The body was recovered in a ravine in wooded area of sector I-14. A prayer leader informed the police about the body, which was shifted to hospital. The victim, said to be in his mid 20s, was wearing black shalwar qameez . Police said the victim was subjected to severe torture and repeatedly stabbed.
