KOHAT, May 8 The Deputy Inspector General of Kohat region police, Mohammad Idrees Khan, reportedly went missing on way to his home town of Mardan from Kohat on Friday morning, a highly-placed source told Dawn.

The DIG, who is said to be a bitter enemy of militants and criminals, had been warned in advance to keep a low profile because of militants' threat.

According to the source, Idrees Khan had left his official residence in Kohat with a guard in the morning, but had not reached his home in Mardan till late into the night. His family contacted the Kohat office, but they were told that he had left for home.

The source said that top officials of the provincial police and intelligence agencies had established contacts with his relatives and friends in Peshawar and other cities.
