RAWALPINDI, Oct 30: New (10-Corps) Corps Commander Lt-Gen Syed Arif Hassan has expressed keenness to be a part of all developmental activities in the district.

He was talking to District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani here on Monday, who had called on him at the corps headquarters.

Officials quoted Lt-Gen Hassan as having told Mr Kiani that he would work to remove all bottlenecks in the local government’s developmental activities.

He appreciated the Nazim’s efforts for improving the working of service-oriented departments, like education and health.

Mr Kiani apprised the corps commander on the progress on Nullah Leh project. The district government recently approved a blueprint for finding a solution to the Leh problems.

Among other achievements of his two months in office, Mr Kiani counted improvement in the working of Tehsil headquarters hospitals, setting up of blood banks at the Tehsil level, initiation of a pilot project for the computerization of the revenue record, activities of Khushali Bank and the setting up of an employment bureau.

The district nazim is scheduled to give another briefing at the corps headquarters on November 5.
