DADU, March 6: The adviser to the Sindh chief minister on forest and wildlife, Syed Aijaz Ahmad Shirazi, has accused sacked minister Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh and Dr Bahadur Dahri of occupying 1,627 acres of Kundah forest land in Sehwan.

Speaking at a press conference at the Kundah rest house on Sunday, he said the case would be referred to the National Accountability Bureau. He said the PML would also take action against them.

Chief minister's adviser Ghulam Rasool Unnar and special assistant Dr Manzoor Leghari were also present on the occasion.

Mr Shirazi said influential people had occupied 11,000 acres land in the Kundah forest and 13,000 acres in the Khero Dero forest along the Indus River.

He said officers of the forest department had sent him reports about the illegal occupation of forest land for which a case would be registered and inquiry initiated against the accused. He said the influential people would be ejected from the forest land.

He said a survey had been initiated to know how much land had been occupied so that action could be taken against people concerned.

Earlier, the advisers held a meeting with officers of the forest department at the rest house.

Jamshoro DCO Israr Ahmad Shaikh, forest chief conservator and forest officers from Dadu and Nawabshah attended the meeting. Later, they visited the Kundah forest.

DEMO: A large of number residents of different villages of kutcha area of Sehwan held a protest demonstration outside the local press club on Sunday against encroachment on their land allegedly by Pakistan Muslim League leaders.

They said 2,600 acres of land were distributed among residents of Duri Dero, Nau Wahan, Noor Bughio, Fayaz Khan and Mahi Oatho Dehs. They said each farmer was given 16 acres by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but PML leaders Abdul Salam Rajput, Abdul Hameed Buledi allegedly occupied their lands with the support of Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh.
