HARIPUR, June 25: Superintendent of Police, Haripur, Abdullah Khan, has said that the police are performing their duties with diligence and devotion.

In an interview with the APP here on Friday, the SP asked police officials to keep the national interests supreme over and above any other consideration while performing their duties.

He said the police were striving for the safety and security of the masses. He sought the cooperation of the people in purging the society of criminal elements.

The SP said during 2004 the police arrested 102 proclaimed offenders and recovered about 6,730 litres of liquor, 315 weapons of different categories, including Kalashnikovs, pistols, shot-guns and over 3,000 rounds, 12kg explosive material, 100 detonators and 50 crackers in different raids.

He said despite manpower shortage and limited resources, police were performing their duty with devotion and sincerity to maintain peace and security in the area.

He said maintenance of law and order was the prime responsibility of the police and any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
