RAWALPINDI, May 1: The executive district officer, education, Abdul Hamid Dar, has released an amount of Rs140 million to different colleges and schools in the district for repairs and maintenance, official sources told Dawn.

The amount has been provided under the Education Sector Reforms and every college has been provided its share in accordance with its needs, Abdul Hamid Dar told Dawn.

According to the figures released by the EDO, Rs1.4 million have been provided to the Government Postgraduate College for Girls, Sixth Road, and Government Postgraduate College, Asghar Mall has been provided Rs0.7 million.

Similarly, an amount of Rs0.2 million has been provided to Government Degree College for Girls, B-Block Satellite Town, Government Degree College for Girls, F-Block, Government Degree College for Girls, Zafarul Haq Road, Government Degree College for Girls, Dhoke Hassu, Government Degree College for Girls, Dhoke Ratta, Government Degree College for Boys, Taxila each. Government Degree College for Girls and Government Degree College for Boys, Murree, have been provided Rs0.1 million each.

Apart from this, different schools have also been provided funds for repairs and maintenance and reconstruction of buildings for those schools which have dilapidated buildings.

The amount has been released to the institutions keeping in view their requirements and priorities, said Mr Dar.
