HYDERABAD, April 2: The DCO has said that an environmental park will be established in the city where demonstrations of alternate energy sources will be held to make people aware about them.

Mohammad Hussain Syed was speaking at a meeting held at Shahbaz Hall here on Thursday to discuss environmental issues of the district.

He said that at the park, electricity would be produced through wind mills and plants of bio-gas and solar energy.

Discussing dumping of hospital waste, the DCO announced that an incinerator would be established in the city and managements of city hospitals would be made asked to dumping their waste there.

He said that a survey was being carried out to prepare an industrial profile of the district which would also address environmental issues which were posing health hazards to employees of the industries and residents of adjoining localities.

Expressing concern over an increasing trend of adulteration and use of industrial colours into food items by some traders, Mr Hussain directed authorities concerned to strictly monitor such activities.

The Deputy Director, Environment Protection Agency, Mashood Ahmed, informed the meeting that some Malaysian companies were interested in the establishment of an incinerator in Hyderabad but the project was not implemented due to non- availability of a plot and later, the scheme was shifted to somewhere else.

He disclosed that used disposable syringes and urine bags were being used in manufacturing of toys which was harmful for children.

The DCO directed the EPA management to prepare a feasibility report on the establishment of incinerator in 15 days so that the scheme could be implemented without any further delay.

The EDO, community development, Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi; EDO, health, Agha Tariq; Director, Building Control, Hyderabad Development Authority, Masood Jumani; and others attended the meeting.

FLOOD: The DCO, while speaking at another meeting, directed the taluka municipal administrations to submit plans of operation in two days, which would be incorporated into district plan of operation for high flood and rain emergency.
