GUJRANWALA, Jan 31: Members of a revenue team were beaten up and a Patwari and a Naib Qasid confined in a Dera by lumberdar of Tarkan village in Qila Deedar Singh on Saturday.

Sources said the recovery team, including Tehsildar Rana Jamil Khan, Qanoongo Muhammad Nawaz, Patwari Muhammad Ashfaq and Naib Qasids Muhammad Shafiq and Gulzar Khan, had gone to the village to collect agriculture income tax worth Rs10,000 from the accused lumberdar, Khalid Butt.

Mr Butt and his men allegedly attacked the members of recovery team with clubs, kidnapped Patwari Ashfaq and Naib Qasid Gulzar and confined them in a dera from where a police party recovered them later on. The accused managed to escape.

The police have registered a case against the accused and his accomplices and are investigating the case.
