FAISALABAD, March 1: M. Adrees, the president of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, resigned from the office at a meeting here on Tuesday.

Sources attributed the leading industrialist's decision to internal conflicts. They said a strong group was opposing several new initiatives taken by Mr Adrees, the chairman of a known chemicals company.

UK MINISTER: British Minister for Department for International Development (DFID) Gareth Thomas has said he was not satisfied with the pace of work on welfare projects in Pakistan in education, health, poverty alleviation and provision of basic civic amenities.

He was talking to reporters after inaugurating the construction of classrooms in the Government Boys Primary School, Chak 119 JB (Samana), on Tuesday. Mr Thomas said there was a dire need to accelerate the pace of work on development projects.
