HYDERABAD, March 1: The Principals' Association, Hyderabad region, has demanded that all examination boards should be placed under the administrative control of the education ministry, instead of the Sindh governor.

At a meeting held here on Tuesday, the association demanded that contract employees in all boards and other such organizations should be removed and replaced by in-service senior professors.

Taking serious notice of alleged irregularities in examinations of the Sindh University and the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education for year 2004, the meeting demanded that competent and senior teachers should be given assignment in future and the rotation policy be strictly implemented.

It said the salary, TA/DA and contingency bills of teachers should be referred to the taluka headquarter branches of the National Bank to avoid deduction of service charges and commission.

The meeting demanded that separate EDOs should be appointed for college education in each district, late surcharge on affiliation fees of colleges should be abolished, the annual budget of colleges should be released within time and acting principals of colleges be confirmed.

CONVOCATIN: Degrees were awarded to 204 graduate and postgraduate students of the Isra University at annual convocation here on Tuesday. The chancellor of the university and president of Isra Islamic Foundation, Prof (Dr) Ghulam Qadir Kazi, presided over the convocation.
