HYDERABAD, Jan 10: Employees of powerhouses in Jamshoro, Lakhra and Kotri observed an hour-long strike and held demonstrations here on Monday to protest against the proposed privatization of powerhouses and to press authorities to accept their demands.

All Pakistan Powerhouses Administrative Committee chairman Mohammad Sajan Panhwar, in a statement, claimed that the hour-long strike was observed in all power stations of the country.

It is learnt that an argument took place between the striking workers and staff of the finance director in Jamshoro and later the office was ransacked and furniture/equipment damaged.

Sources told Dawn that a three-member team of the National Electric and Power Regulatory Authority had arrived from Islamabad to inquire about power losses caused by the ongoing strike. Union leaders had been summoned by senior officers of the Water and Power Development Authority to Lahore for talks, they added.

SU ENTRY RESULTS: The University of Sindh announced on Monday the result of the entry test for admission in the Master of Public Administration, evening programme, under self-finance scheme. List of successful candidates has been displayed on the notice board of the directorate (administration) in the administration block.
