MARDAN: Woman shot dead by husband

MARDAN: Dec 2: A woman was shot dead by her husband, another committed suicide and a third woman was stabbed by her husband and admitted to hospital in a critical condition here on Thursday.

It is learnt that Noorjahan of Lundkhwar had developed differences with her husband Ghaniur Rehman, and left her house some three months back. On Thursday morning, she secretly visited the house to see her children, but her husband learnt about it and locked her in the house.

Meanwhile, some people reported to the police of the incident who raided the house and recovered Noorjahan. At the same time, Ghani and one of his accomplices climbed on the roof of the house and opened fire killing her on the spot in the presence of the police party.

Brother of the victim lodged an FIR against the accused with the Lundkhwar police. However the two accused managed to escape the scene. In another incident, a young girl in Takhtbai area committed suicide following a forced engagement with a neighbour.

Fauzia Bibi of Takhtbai allegedly committed suicide when she was engaged to a local identified as Daulat Khan whom she disliked. But when parents forced her to marry him she shot herself and died here on Thursday morning.

In the third incident, Mohammad Khan of Lundkhwar allegedly stabbed his wife as she refused to remarry him after divorce. Mohammad Khan had divorced his wife over a domestic feud but after one year when he again wanted to marry her she refused.
