28 selected for best teacher awards

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Monday announced "Best University Teachers Awards" for 2003-04 under which 28 teachers representing various public-sector universities and degree-awarding institutions of the country have been selected for the honour.

An official statement issued here on Monday said these award winners would be given certificates and a cash prize of Rs100,000 each. The names of the award winners are:

Awan, Department of Management Sciences and Dr Mushtaq A. AGRICULTURE UNIVERSITIES: Dr Mohammad Arshad, Department of Soil and Environmental Sciences and Dr Mohammad Siddique, Department of Veterinary Microbiology, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad; and Dr Ghulam Hussain Abro, Department of Entomology, Sindh Agriculture University.

ENGINEERING UNIVERSITIES: Dr Abdul Khalique Ansari, Department of Civil Engineering and Dr Ghous Bux Khasheli, Department of Chemical Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Dr M. A. Irfan, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NWFP University of Engineering and Technology; and Dr Sohail Aftab Qureshi, Department of Electrical Engineering, UET Lahore.

UNIVERSITIES OF HEALTH SCIENCES: Prof Sibtul Hasnain, Allama Iqbal Medical College, University of Health Sciences; and Prof Nazir Ashraf Laghari, Department of Ophthalmology, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences.
