FAISALABAD, Oct 7: Police raided a theatre and arrested two stage actresses, assaulted spectators and created panic when the show was in progress here on Wednesday night.

Eyewitnesses said that a police team headed by sub-inspector Shaukat Gujjar raided the Minerva cinema where stage drama 'Kuriyan Shararti' was being staged. The armed policemen intruded into the stage and arrested performers Saima Khan and Mehak Jan. The policemen also tortured the spectators during the stampede.

DEATH AWARDED: A local court on Thursday handed down death sentence and fined Rs100,000 to a drug-trafficker. According to the prosecution, the Factory Area police had rounded up Muhammad Rafi from Nisar Colony and recovered 6.20kg heroin from his possession on April 4, 2003.
