Published September 28, 2004

KHAIRPUR, Sept 27: The Solangi-Jagirani tribal feud, that started in the Kingri area, has now spread to the Gambat taluka. On Monday, a group of armed men opened fire in Majhad Solangi village , Gambat taluka, and injured a policeman performing duty at a police picket.

Kingri taluka, after the murder of three persons, already wears a deserted look as people prefer to remain indoors, while vehicular traffic uses alternate link roads to reach Khairpur and Sukkur as main roads remain closed. DPO Imran Yaqoob Minhas told journalists on Monday that reconciliation meeting between the Jagiranis and Solangis would be held as per schedule on Oct 2.

PROTEST: Employees of the district population department took out a procession here on Monday to protest against the district population officer. They said that the officer was harassing them.
