LARKANA, Aug 18: The new campus of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) in Larkana on Tuesday night , its project director Dr Javaid Leghari said that the SZABIST trust was endeavouring to promote quality education to meet the demands of globalization.

Speaking as chief guest he said that merit and only merit would rule and SZABIST was committed to providing quality education. The key to success is to remain well-acquainted with the changes in the world with reference to the fast pace in information technology.

All four campuses of SZABIST - Larkana, Karachi, Islamabad and Dubai - would be synchronised in a way that the students there would simultaneously benefit from state of the art lectures being delivered by the scholars.

We are fully committed to ensuring merit, Leghari said adding that it was the pride of ZABIST that many reputed organisations, even the Agha Khan Foundation seeks its help in various training programmes, which speaks of the high standards at SZABIST.

Dr Suleman Shaikh, the secretary of the board of trustees of SZABIST dealt with the concept and foundation of the trust and its achievements. He said the campus would serve the rural districts of Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Ghotki and Khairpur, while the adjacent districts of Balochistan would also have access to the Larkana campus.

The campus would offer BBA studies (four-year programme), Intermediate Science and Commerce college, and diploma programmes in Technology, Business and English communication skills.

Khursheed Junejo, the district nazim of Larkana who also spoke on the occasion announced three scholarships, one for each discipline in, information technology, business science and English language.

DISTRIC COUNCIL: District council members, in Monday's session, called for uniformity in college admission fees while denouncing excessive fee being charged from first-year students.
