HYDERABAD, Aug 11: The civil judge and judicial magistrate-II here on Tuesday directed water contamination case investigating officer Maula Bux Leghari to submit a final charge-sheet in the case within 14 days.

The time was granted by the court after an application was moved, seeking time to complete investigation. The investigation officer of the Market police has widened the scope of investigation of the case and has obtained samples of water and prepared video films of different spots from where water is pumped for treatment plant and areas where water gets polluted due to different reasons.

Names of more officials have been incorporated in the investigation and they are likely to be challaned in addition to four already booked officials - former director-general, Hyderabad Development Authority, Ali Ahmad Lund, former managing-director, Water and Sanitation Agency, Kafeel Ahmad, chief engineer, Sukkur Barrage, Ghulam Nabi Mughal, and former EDO, health, Dr Agha Tariq.

An SDO of the Wasa's filter plant has been shown absconder in the case. A police source said some officers of pharmaceutical companies would be joined in the investigation at the time of submission of the charge-sheet.

ARRESTED: The Phulelli investigation police in two raids on Tuesday night busted an eight-member gang involved in the sale of fake currency notes, a Fort police station source said.

The action followed a tip-off by a secret agency. Those arrested were identified as Mumtaz Mangi, Nazeer Gopang, Khamiso Mirjat, Mohammad Usman, Mohammad Ramzan, Amanullah Khero, Noor Mohammad and Ghulam Abbasi. Five of them were arrested from the house of a retired police officer.
