GUJRANWALA, July 9: The district police claimed on Friday to have arrested four of the gangsters, who allegedly raped and murdered a teenaged girl at Kaleki village in Wazirabad on Thursday night.

The postmortem report confirmed that the deceased was gang-raped. Reports said the girl 'G' was on her way home from fields when half a dozen people, who the police claimed belonged to influential families, took her away to a deserted place. They allegedly raped the girl turn by turn and later escaped after throwing her outside her house.

She was removed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where she breathed her last. Before death, she gave out the names of the suspects against whom the Ahmadnagar police registered a case.

The police claimed that they had arrested four of the suspects. They were Tanvir, Imran (son of Abdul Hakim), Imran (son of Tajdin) and Tausif Ahmad. However, Anwar and Nazir are still at large.

The police claimed that the suspects insisted during investigation that the girl had been killed by her rivals. However, DPO Saud Aziz and additional SP Waqar Ahmad Chauhan went to the village and got conducted an inquiry, which confirmed gang-rape.

Residents of the village also confirmed that the gangsters did not enjoy good reputation and they had criminally assaulted the girl at their outhouse. They denied the impression that the aggrieved family had concocted a story to save their close relative.
