RAWALPINDI, June 30: The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, on Tuesday suspended arrest warrant of a sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Water and Power Development Authority.

The division bench, comprising Justice Mohammad Akhtar Shabeer and Tanveer Bashir Ansari, also directed the National Accountability Bureau prosecutor to appear before the court on July 7 and give details of the issue.

The SDO, Rana Iftikhar, posted at Gujrat, had filed a petition in the court contending that the NAB had issued his arrest warrant in connection with a corruption reference. He had alleged that the NAB officials were harassing him despite the fact that they had yet to present any evidence regarding his involvement in the case.

In another case, the court also directed the SHO of Aabpara police station to refrain from harassing an engineer working with a private firm. Engineer Malik Nawaz had moved the court contending that the SHO was harassing him and conducting night raids on his house, as the NAB had nominated him in a PTCL embezzlement case.

The court also issued notice to the NAB's prosecutor general in order to inform it about the actual situation. Meanwhile, the accountability court No. 3 judge, Mohammad Aslam, extended the physical remand of a line man of Wapda for another 10 days. Amanullah, who is facing corruption charges, is being quizzed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
