KHAIRPUR, March 24: A large number of growers of Khan Wah and Sadarang Wah continued their protest against irrigation officials for the second consecutive day here on Wednesday.

The growers said the acute shortage of water in the two Wahs had badly affected wheat crop, mango orchards, vegetables and other crops. They warned that they would held a demonstration in front of the irrigation office in Sukkur if water was not supplied to the Wahs.

STRIKE: A shutter-down strike was observed in Priyaloi here on Wednesday against unannounced loadshedding in the town and 50 surrounding villages. Hesco officials held talks with area residents and assured them of regular electricity supply.

DEMOS: Three demonstrations were staged against the Hesco on Tuesday. Residents of Jani Buriro, Pir Misri, Liyari, Sadiqabad, Masoom Shah-ji-Wandh and Jhangal Faqir-ji-Wandh villages staged a demonstration against the Hesco sub-division on Tuesday.

They complained that their areas were without electricity for last eight days. Residents of Kaim Ogho, Dawood, Malhar, Qalandar Bux and other villages also held a demonstration against Hesco.
