THATTA, March 4: Residents are suffering as the flour price has risen by Rs3 in Sujawal sub-division. None of the officials concerned has taken any notice of the matter despite the price of flour rose from Rs12 to Rs13.

The residents are using low-quality rice flour as they cannot afford wheat flour after the price hike. They demanded that the authorities should ensure the supply of wheat flour at normal rate.

PHONE LINES: About 50 telephone lines in Daro are lying out of order for the last one month but the PTCL has taken no steps to remove the fault.

In a joint statement sent to Dawn here on Thursday, Daro United Merchants Association office-bearers Mohammad Afzal Memon, Abdullah Soomro, Allah Dino Kori and Tufail Ahmad said they had been contacting the SDO, Thatta, divisional engineer, Bin Qasim, general manager, Southern Telecommunic-ations Region-I and the PTCL hotline 0800-44544 in Islamabad but to no avail. They have demanded restoration of the defective lines.
