FAISALABAD, Jan 12: Students of the National Textile University have announced that they will set up a hunger strike camp in front of Parliament House during the coming National Assembly session to protest against the introduction of self-assessment scheme and increase in number of seats by the University management.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday, the office-bearers of Students Action Committee said they had been agitating against callous policies of the NTU management for the last one-and-a-half month, but the authorities concerned were playing the role of a silent spectator.

They pointed out that they had met federal industries minister, Punjab governor and MMA leader Liaqat Baloch, but all their efforts had so far been proved futile. They said that a number of parliamentarians had assured them to put their matter on the assembly floor, they said.

They claimed that the NTU staff had also assured them full cooperation and they had been also on strike for the last one month. They vowed to continue their struggle till the acceptance of their demands.
