RAWALPINDI, Jan 9: District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani on Friday said the government had set up more than two dozen technical institutions to impart training to women in different fields.

Speaking to a women delegation led by member, district council, Yasmeen Kausar, Mr Kiani said the district government was taking special interest in projects for socio-economic empowerment of women.

He said the local government had proved to be a success as it was resolving problems of people and carrying out record development projects. Meanwhile, District Coordination Officer Rawalpindi Hamid Ali Khan has instructed the executive district officers to strictly follow the rules while using official funds to avoid audit objections in financial matters.

He issued the instructions while presiding over a meeting held here to review audit reports of different departments. Hamid Khan said it was essential for good governance that all accounts should be maintained transparently and funds were utilized by remaining within the set parameters.

He said the funds allocated for development schemes should be utilized according to government policy. The DCO directed the departmental heads to give reply of audit notes within three days so that in consultation with the regional director Audit meeting of the District Accounts Committee could be called. -APP
