RAWALPINDI, Jan 4: A soldier died, while five others sustained injuries when a passenger bus ploughed into the back of their patrol jeep on Murree Road near the Convention Centre, Islamabad, on Sunday night.

Investigating officer Munir Ahmed told this reporter that a speeding bus (GLT-2010) coming from Murree crashed into the patrol jeep at the U-turn near the Convention Centre. As a result, a soldier, Khadim Hussain, (from 13-Light Air Defence) was killed on the spot, while his five colleagues were injured. One of the injured is stated to be in critical condition.

Four of the injured soldiers identified as Zafar Iqbal, Ramzan, Ghulam Mustafa and Mohammad Ilyas were shifted to the CMH, Rawalpindi, while Habibullah was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims). In the second incident, a woman identified as Bushra Bibi was run over by a speeding wagon and killed while crossing road at Bhara Kahu.
