HYDERABAD, Dec 31: The executive committee of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry at a meeting held on Wednesday adopted a resolution, demanding that the Hesco chief end loadshedding in industrial and commercial areas.

The meeting said that Majalis and mourning processions, which were always held after sunset during Muharram might face serious mishaps due to loadshedding.

The meeting lashed out at Hesco for erratic electric supply and demanded that unannounced loadshedding should be stopped immediately.

The meeting said that hours-long power breakdown in the industrial area had seriously affected production.

The entrepreneurs were bearing losses to the tune of tens of millions per day not only in production but also in labour charges, the meeting said.

Hundreds of workers had been rendered jobless and commercial activities had also been paralysed due to loadshedding, the participants of the meeting complained.

WATER THEFT: The Sindh Tail-end Farmers Association president Gul Mohammad Leghari has strongly criticised Rohri Canal water and demanded that tampering with Rohri canal should be stopped forthwith.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said that the tail-end farmers did not expect injustices under the PPP government.

He, however, regretted that new channels and watercourses were being constructed, which would further aggravate the situation and add to miseries of the tail-enders.

He appealed to the Sindh government, especially the irrigation minister, to ensure that no new channels or watercourses were sanctioned.
