KOHAT, Oct 23: Eight persons including a Levy constable were killed when unidentified gunmen attacked them near Babarki shrine in Ferozekhel area of Orakzai Agency on Thursday.

Officials said that the victims were going to their village in a pick-up vehicle when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on the vehicle and fled from the scene.

The victims were identified as sepoy Gulab, Jamshed, Abdul Haadi, Mirza Ali, Sharif, Saleh Khan, Zarmat Khan and Abdul Majeed. The motive behind the incident could not be ascertained immediately. No group has accepted responsibility for the attack, so far. The Orakzai administration registered a case and started investigations.

KIDNAPPED: Unidentified armed persons kidnapped two boys from Tanda Dam tourist resort on Wednesday evening.

Police said that Atif son of Abdul Sattar, resident of Garden Colony, and Saqib son of Haji Munir, resident of Mohallah Mian Badshah, went for picnic to Tanda Dam on their motor cycle. However they did not return till late on Wednesday night after which their families informed the police.

The police found the motor cycle bearing registration number KT-2517 parked near Tanda Dam and confirmed that the boys had been kidnapped.

A report has been registered by the concerned police on the complaint of Haji Munir and investigations have been started to find the boys.

ROCKET FIRED: A rocket fired from unknown location exploded near the house of an army officer on Wednesday night, police said.

Officials said that the rocket fired by militants from the mountains of Darra Adamkhel exploded near the residence of a colonel in Gulshan Colony with a big bang.

The rescue 15 and special police teams started search operation and found that the attack had caused no damage to property or life. The Janglekhel police have registered the case and started investigations.

EXPLOSIVES DESTROYED: The bomb disposal squad destroyed huge quantity of bombs and other explosive material recovered from criminals and terrorists during the past several months in the mountains of Ustarzai on Thursday.

The explosives which were destroyed included five rockets of 107 MM, three mortars, 117 hand grenades, 251 meter safety wire, 314 detonators, 600 fire crackers, 211 kilograms of explosive material, 54 kilograms of explosive chemical, 13 rounds of 7 RPG and two land mines.

OFFICIALS SUSPENDED: Kohat Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education chairman suspended two invigilators for condoning use of unfair means during supplementary examination of matric in Karak and Kohat halls on Thursday.

During a surprise visit to the hall of Government Higher Secondary School for Boys Karak, he found the superintendent Ashraf Ali Shah helping the candidates and suspended him on the spot.
