LARKANA, Oct 23: The staff of the district revenue department boycotted office work and went on strike on Thursday in protest against what they called arrogant attitude of the district officer of revenue and his use of abusive language with subordinates.

Abdul Hafeez Chandio, leader of the protesting revenue staff, told journalists that they decided to go on strike after District Officer Khalid Mujtaba Agha used ‘abusive language’, gave a thrashing to his assistant Liaquat Ali Khokhar over some typographical errors in a letter and aimed pistol at him in the office that day.

The staff was so incensed over the officer’s behaviour that within minutes all of them, right from the mukhtiarkar and tapedar to peon, went on strike, he said.

The protesters said that they would not call off the strike till the authorities transferred the district officer.
