HYDERABAD, Oct 7: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil said on Tuesday that lack of planning by the National Highway Authority had led to growing complaints about long drawn-out traffic gridlocks on Phulelli and Pinyari canals and Lined Channel.

He said at a meeting of the NHA officials and Motorway traffic police that the officials concerned should ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic on all the roads.

He said that due to frequent traffic jams, even ambulances carrying patients could not reach hospitals on time and directed officials to prepare a diversion plan for heavy vehicles.

City SPO Qamar Raza Jiskani informed the meeting that 238 policemen were deployed at 11 points from Hatri to Qasim Chowk but due to big trailers and heavy trucks, the traffic remained deadlocked. However, a new timetable was being introduced to avoid traffic jams, he said.

DCO Ali Ahmed Lund and other officials concerned of the district government were present at the meeting.
