LARKANA, July 2: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) took out a procession on Wednesday against the Sindh Education Minister’s suggestion to 330 ad-hoc lecturers to appear in the Sindh Public Service Commission examinations prior to regularization.Led by SPLA leaders Prof Manzoor Chajjiro, Syed Asghar Ali Shah, Zulfikar Kolachi, Lal Bakhsh Kalhoro and others, protesters carrying banners, placards, and chanting slogans staged a sit-in outside the Jinnahbagh.

The SPLA leaders regretted that except Sindh, all provinces had regularized ad-hoc lecturers. The government of Dr Arbab Rahim kept them on false hopes, while the PPP sitting in Opposition had raised the issue in Assembly and also moved a resolution.

While the sitting Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro had moved a resolution in his previous capacity as the leader of Opposition for regularization of 330 ad-hoc lecturers but now he was pressing them to appear in SPSC examinations.

They called for early regularization and releasing of salaries of last six months. They also condemned the robbery at the house of Prof Dr Abdul Razzak Soomro and called for the arrest of culprits. They demanded the government to lift ban from teachers’ unions and issue orders of promotion from grade 17 to 18 and 19.
