HYDERABAD, Feb 3: Ten activists of PPP and nationalist parties with their supporters from Qasimabad taluka joined Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) here on Sunday evening in the presence of media and MQM leaders, including zonal in-charge and a senator.

Announcing the decision on their behalf Senator Dr Mohammad Ali Brohi and MQM zonal in charge Mohammad Sharif at a news conference at the press club said that these activists had joined MQM after having been inspired by the philosophy of Altaf Hussain and his message for peace and love for Sindh and Pakistan.

Senator Brohi said his party and MQM chief Altaf Hussain were endeavouring to create harmony among communities living in Sindh.

He said that MQM had been trying to tell the people to come forward and work in the larger interest of Sindh. He further said that they were known activists of their parties and in their communities.

Mohammad Sharif said that in fact the attitude of MQM and Altaf Hussain in the wake of riots following the death of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto had inspired them so much that they left their parties.

He said that they were also convinced that MQM was working for peace and brotherhood. He added that they were convinced of MQM’s struggle for the downtrodden which consisted of 98 per cent of the people of the country.

Senator Brohi informed journalists that MQM was organising an important conference on Monday at a local hotel. He said that the conference would be attended by Sindhi and Urdu-speaking intellectuals.

He added that invitations were extended to Jamiluddin Aali, G. A. Allana, Ibrahim Joyo, Pirzada Qasim, Farman Fatehpuri, Khaki Joyo, Taj Joyo and others. He expressed the hope that all of them would be attending the conference that would continue till evening and Altaf Hussain would address the conference.

Those who have joined MQM are Sadiq Rahu (SPSF Sindh University), Qadir Dreshak, Javed Khokhar and Ahsan Doomrho (PML), Wali Dreshak and Irfan Shah (JSQM), Shoaib Soomro and Shah Faisal Pandhiyani (STP), Jani Doomrho and Waris Dahani (PPP).
