THATTA, Jan 23: Thatta police arrested four men, three impersonators and an ASI, and recovered official arms and ammunition from their possession on the National Highway near Gharo on Wednesday.

Police sources told Dawn the men riding in a blue pick-up with hooters and without a number plate stormed Zardari Petrol Pump on the National Highway.

The four were in plain clothes and holding rifles.

They claimed themselves the CID personnel and ‘arrested’ an employee Aslam Sajjad whom they blindfolded, tied hands and took away.

Manager of the petrol pump became suspicious and informed the DPO Thatta, Dawood Junejo who dispatched the police instantly to block the highway.

Police were successful in arresting Shafi Mohammad Chohan, Abdul Qadir, Ikhtaq Ahmed Bhatti and Mohram Ali Khoonharo.

Police claimed only Mohram Ali was the police personnel while his three accomplices were impersonators.

The rifles they were carrying were obtained by Mohram. Police said the vehicle was a private property of a DSP in Karachi.

Thatta police were scanning the facts and further revelations will be disclosed following investigation, sources said.
