KHAIRPUR: 21 injured in accident

KHAIRPUR, Nov 25: Twenty-one people were injured when a Karachi-bound coach overturned near Sachal Gate on the National Highway near Ranipur on Saturday night.

Reports said that the people going from Jacobabad to Karachi to attend a marriage ceremony when the accident happened.

The injured were identified as Engineer Kumar Santosh, Kumar Parkash, Lal, Nanik Ram, Makhi, Sachal Lal, Ashok Kumar, Mrs Dr Ashok Kumar Parmanand, Raja Mal, Sunil Kumar, Mahesh Kumar, Mohan Lal, Notin Das, Lal Chand, Mrs Lal Chand, Khilo Mal, Mai Sabiba, Ami Lal, Ami Parso Mal, Ashiq Ali, Mohammad Ayub and Besham Kumar.

After first aid, the injured and others passengers returned to Jacobabad and did not proceed to Karachi.

Residential quarters: The vice-chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) said that fifty bachelors residential quarters were being built for lower level employees of the university.

Prof (Dr) Nilofar Shaikh said this at a lucky draw ceremony for the renovation of houses, distribution of motorbikes and bicycles in employees organised by the Shah Abdul Latif University Employees Welfare Association at Allama I.I. Kazi Hall of the university on Saturday night.

Dr Nilofar Shaikh said that she was aware of the problems of employees of the university and would take measure for solution of their problems.

She said that with the construction of these quarters, employees’ residential problem would be resolved.

She said that she had held a meeting with Habib Bank Limited officials and they had agreed to advance loans from January 2008, to the employees for residential purposes.

Later, she drew 25 lucky names for Rs50,000 each, 14 names for motorbikes and 25 names for bicycles.
