HYDERABAD, May 18: The Awami National Party held Quran Khawani on Friday for its workers killed in Karachi on May 12 and termed it ‘target killings.’ Senior vice-president Haji Asmatullah Mahsood of the ANP Sindh, addressing people at the general bus stand said that terrorists under state patronage had killed a large number of people in Karachi.

He said they had been given `free hand’ to control the roads of Karachi to such extent that even the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) was not allowed to address the Karachi Bar.

He said Pushtoons will foil any attempt at creating ethnic violence. He said peace was needed most as Pushtoons belonged to the working class.

He criticised the statement of DG Rangers during his address to Pushtoon Jirga and said Pushtoons did not recognise this Jirga. He said that the statement was in favour of ‘terrorists’ and a threat to Pushtoons living in Karachi.

He said he would like to know where were the DG and his Rangers on May 12 when people were being killed on Shara-i-Faisal.

The congregation was addressed by Qamoos Gul Khattak, Haji Sher Zaman, Aurangzeb Khan Yousufzai, Pukhtoon Wali and others.—PPI
